Zeolite is a rare negatively-charged mineral with a crystalline structure much like a honeycomb. The porous nature of the zeolite and its negative charge allows it to selectively trap and exchange positively-charged toxins (known as cations). Zeolites have a preference or affinity for heavy metals due to their positive charge, trapping them within or onto their cage and carrying them out of the body via the excretory system (urine).
